Repour Special Interview: Dylan Cormier

A few weeks back we featured up and coming musical artist Dylan Cormier as our Repour Spotlight. Shortly afterwards we were contacted by Dylan and asked if we would like to interview him; we jumped at the opportunity to interview a talented musician as himself.

BlogtvRepourInterviewLoft (7/7/2009): Hi Dylan

Dylan Cormier (7/7/2009): Hello

BR- Thanks for agreeing to the interview

DC- I believe I suggested it actually lol

BR- LOL good

BR- You live in Canada, is that correct?

DC- Yes, I live in rural Nova Scotia

BR- How would you describe your music and what inspired or influenced you?

DC- I would describe my music as acoustic. I don't really like to be labelled as one genre or another. Basically just growing up listening to my father and my uncle JP and all those guys, being subjected to all different styles of music made me want to play.

BR- You told us you are going to appear in a festival called Riverfest.

DC- Yes, on the 15th of August. They stuck me on there at 11:30 in the morning; I'm either the first or second act of that day, it's a 3 day event. They only gave me that one 20 minute slot. This will be my first live appearance.

BR- Sounds like it could be a break for you. What is usually the attendance during Riverfest?

DC- Not sure exactly, it's a pretty major event, probably over 1000. This year there will be several well known Canadian artists/bands there. Matt Andersen, MIR, the Northern Pikes and a bunch more. All details are available at
http://www.rockthebush.com

BR- Thats really great, some folks may be vacationing and want to take a look at the acts.

DC- Camping is available at the festival actually, a lot of people will be making a 3 day weekend of it.

BR- What songs will you be playing at the festival, have you picked them out yet?

DC- Depends how the mood strikes me I suppose as Pete Seeger said, it's no good to over rehearse.

BR- Do you feel that being on Blogtv has helped prepare you for the festival?

DC- Yes actually, I think BlogTV is a good medium for helping artists get heard, and it's more interactive than YouTube, gives the artist a chance to see immediately how people respond to their work.

BR- You told us you are making a demo cd, will it be ready by festival time?

DC- That's completed as of yesterday actually, featuring me on all vocals (lead and harmony), acoustic and electric guitar. Did the recording myself.

BR- Thats great, will the cd be available to your Blogtv viewers?

DC- Yes I think that can be arranged. However, the packaging and actual copies of the CD aren't done yet.

BR- When do you think it will be available?

DC- Several songs from the disc are available for free download from my website on the "my music" page. http://www.bigdjindustriez.tk

BR- Great to hear. One last question, would you be interested in performing for a Blogtv music festival hosted online?

DC- Sure, that would be a good thing to organize. Perhaps you guys should look into that.

BR- We are tossing that around on our own, but sounds like something good to us. Good Luck with everything

DC- Peace
